It’s Getting Hot in Here

I’ve spent the better part of the last few days either submerged in water or wearing bags of ice on my head and neck. I was a sight. Never once when I moved back to my beloved Pacific Northwest, did I imagine that it could, or would, get as hot here as the southwest where I had just come from to escape the retched heat. I was wrong. Granted the heat here, is not near the temperatures being reached elsewhere in the US; AZ, Nevada and TX.. y’all have my sympathies. Truly.

I don’t do well in higher temperatures anymore. I used to lay out in the hot Arizona sun trying to get skin cancer a tan. Slathered in a form of Crisco. I had the best fried breasts in town. -tongue firmly in cheek- πŸ˜€

I’m lucky now if I can tolerate anything over 80Β° without a puddle forming around me. Not a pretty picture to paint.

I found that while the heat was hitting its strongest, the desire to write slipped into the shadows to cool down and left me grasping at nothingness.. so if I seemed a little absent from posting lately.. you are now in the know as to why. I do want to welcome all my new followers. Thanks for liking what you saw enough to want to read my posts on a regular basis. πŸ˜‰ Here’s to hoping you all are staying cooler than I am!

  1. Winter down-under Phoebe and just as clear that the weather rule book can be thrown out the window. You have a knack at turning the banal into lyrical entertainment so chill out and get back to what you do best πŸ™‚

  2. Well that heat wave you guys are having is actually giving us some nice cool (but slightly wet) relief out here in Michigan, which is fine with me, though I empathize with your plight.) We had a BRUTAL summer last year, and I was really dreading another one this year, but at the moment I don’t even have my air on, which is usually unheard of for me from May until November! πŸ™‚

    • I’m happy that you are seeing some relief in Michigan. I know what it’s like to dread an approaching summer. I hope it continues to be pleasant for you! πŸ™‚

    • It’s the human condition I think. We covet what others possess and vice versa. I suppose it is the reason that most of us are continuously searching for that ever elusive “thing” that we suppose will make us divinely happy.

  3. It’s okay here at the moment but we’ve had some pretty brutal temperatures in the past few years, and I’m without the benefit of central air. It’s breathing I have difficulty with in the heat, which makes it very hard to concentrate. I feel for you.
