The Common Cold Wars

It has been an off few days for me. Oh hell, who am I kidding.. it’s been an off couple of weeks actually. The raging battle to save your favorite blogger… that would be me.. continues..

First there was the Cold From Hell that refused to die. Then his brother, Bronchitis, paid me a visit, and decided to move in, bringing Mr. Lung Fluid with him as his life partner. I had to hire a hitman named Antibiotic, to clear them out of my abode. They countered by sending their own assassin, which was an evil indian known as Barking Cough, whose bosom buddies named Congestion and Phlegm came along for the ride and tried to choke me.

Muscinex and Honey started sleeping in my bedroom to ward them off, and they had almost won the battle when the big boss, Mrs. Migraine, paid us all a visit yesterday, and sent us huddling under dark blankets cowering in fear of her wrath. Tiny little Excedrin PM showed them all though, and slipped through her defenses sending Mrs. Migraine running away in retreat.

The mercenaries have all gone into semi-remission it would seem today, but my troops will continue to stand by in the event of a continued threat on our perimeter. Vitamin C and Echinacea are working with Vitamin D and Zinc to keep up our defenses. With a battle strategy like this, we are sure to win the war…

Any battle tips for me?

Tip: Rest. Don’t resume normal life until you really feel well and ready for it. The worst is a relapse because you ventured out too early. If people don’t like it, screw’em. Da’swhatisaid. 😉

    • I think that may have been my mistake to begin with. I kept trudging forward as though I was not sick, and I only succeeded in steadily getting worse. Your tip is well received and gave me a much needed smile. Thank you. 🙂

  2. Sorry that you have been feeling so rough but I have to admit that this post made me smile. I love it! Honey and Lemon – a good old fashioned remedy, oh and butter with sugar in it for the cough! Don’t ask! 🙂

  3. I’m in day six of my battle with a cold/stomach bug. I’ve been drinking tea and liquids, taking Zicam, feeding my cold, and laying prone. In the end, I think I need to let this run it’s course. Having had your evil bronchitis back in January, I know exactly how you feel and all you can do is let the antibiotic army take control. Then walk around with a mask and a container of Lysol wipes for the rest of the cold and flu season. That might help! 😉

    • I’ve spent more on Lysol wipes and sprays in the last few weeks than I ever have in a year or more lol. Hope you get to feeling better too. Far too many of us bloggers are falling victim to this germ warfare. 😉

  4. I’m a bit behind on my blog reading this week. Are you feeling any better? I don’t have any tips for you, sorry. I came down with what looks like the same thing on the first of the year and I had it for 9 weeks. I didn’t want to let go of me. I’m sorry you have this, it sucks. I feel for ya. Hopefully you’re a little better. ~Gina
