Skills, Eras and Paintings, Oh My!

Welcome to week #4 of Ask Phoebe!

This week I had a semi-sort of anonymous set of questions to answer. I say semi-sort of, because Nicole left her name, but it wasn’t linkable. My sincerest apologies Nicole, for not being able to link you, and give credit where credit is due on these excellent questions. If you have a link for me, feel free to leave me a comment with it, and I will gladly edit to include a way for people to find you! πŸ™‚

    • If you could learn one random skill, what would you learn?

There are a lot of things I wish I knew how to do, so I will try to narrow down to just one. I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, and be a black belt in some form of karate — but I think the skill I’ve always wished I could do most, was pick up other languages quickly and fluently. I love the way spanish rolls off the tongue, and the soft, sweet sounds of the french. It would be awesome to be able to speak multiple languages and understand their written word as well. To some it comes easily, and to others like myself, it seems that only the naughty words stick. πŸ˜€

    • If you could go back in history, what era in time would you choose to go back to?

I love this question! I’ve always been fascinated by two eras in particular. I know you only asked about one, Nicole, but I like them both equally well, and I do not feel I could single out just the one. πŸ˜‰ My first choice is the Middle Ages or Medieval period. I have never really been a girly girl, but I love, love, love the way the women dressed in that time period! All that silk, satin and lace. The corsets and the demure showing of the dΓ©colletage.. hinting at what resided beneath, without the bold flopping it out there for all to see the way we do these days. πŸ˜†

The Old West, or Wild West as it was also referred to, is my second choice. They had corsets and silk/satin/lace in this era as well.. BUT.. I have no desire to see what it was like to be a saloon girl. In this time period, oddly enough, I always fancied myself being a female gunslinger. Hopefully a hot one though, and nothing like Calamity Jane. *sings — Dude Looks Like a Lady–* πŸ˜† My little ass would be bathing often too, and not be all smelly and grimy like they were back then. YUCK! I’ve been shooting guns since I was a young girl, thanks to my dad, so the idea of slinging a gun low on my hips and shooting the bad guys at sundown in the streets — BAM! BAM! Okay, okay so maybe I wouldn’t murder anyone.. but I would damn sure defend myself and NOT be the “little lady” screaming help me, help me, in the background, waiting for the big strong man to save her. πŸ˜€

    • If you could paint a picture of any scenery you’ve seen before, what would you paint?

Hmm, I have never been able to draw really well, and the only paintings I have ever done were paint by numbers, lol. IF I could paint though, I would love to be able to paint the beautiful landscapes of Ireland, or Scotland and their beautiful, authentic castles. I adore castles. They’re so majestic and reminiscent of a time long past with Kings and Queens holding court. Painting one of them would be my way of conjuring up the ghosts of the past in an amazing fantasy all my own.

I hope I did your questions justice! What did y’all think?

Please keep those questions coming each week! You may email them, or leave me a comment in a post and I will get to them first come, first serve! πŸ™‚

  1. I’m a fan of Medieval books, but don’t know if I could handle a corset. Would probably spend most of my time on the ground after fainting from lack of oxygen.

  2. You covered time travel in this, and I’ve written about time travel twice on my blog tonight. It’s like we have a psychic connection. Can I get a burrito now???
